What does the word Umami mean?

Umami (pronounced oo-mah-mee) is a Japanese word that refers to one of the five basic tastes, together with sweet, sour, bitter, and salty. It roughly translates to "savory" or "enhanced" and it's what makes so many of our favorite foods taste better. We set out to make TV better, so we thought Umami was perfect.
